Smokey Maple Old Fashioned

MyBarIsOpen.com has released its next recipe for “drinks to amaze” line of how-to videos, allowing you to make incredible drinks at home that you would normally have to pay significantly for at a bar or restaurant. This is the first drink recipe for our “bourbon cocktails” category, and it is a recipe originally created by the MyBarIsOpen.com staff! It is an amazingly balanced and unique old fashioned recipe that you can use to amaze your guests, or to simply enjoy after a hard day’s work.

The Smokey Maple Old Fashioned is an amazingly balanced old fashioned, with a sweet note coupled with just enough of a smokey flavor that it doesn’t overpower the rest of the ingredients. It has an amazingly bold start with the Knob Creek bourbon, with a smooth, sweet, and smokey finish. It is definitely one of my favorite bourbon cocktails, and is often requested by pretty much every one of my friends who are bourbon drinkers.

Smokey Maple Old Fashioned

  • 1 Sugar Cube
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar Bob’s Smoked Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 tsp Simple Syrup
  • 3 dashes Peychaud’s Barrel-Aged Bitters
  • 1 Large Ice Cube or Sphere
  • 2 oz Knob Creek Bourbon

Insert sugar cube into center of glass. Add smoked maple syrup, simple syrup, and bitters – ensuring that sugar cube is saturated. Muddle ingredients in the glass, and then add Luxardo cherries and a small amount of the sauce from the Luxardo cherry jar. Add large ice cube to glass, pour in bourbon, and then gently stir so as to mix the ingredients without splashing. ENJOY!!!

Empress Lavender Lemonade

We have release our next drink tutorial for “drinks to amaze”, the Empress Lavender Lemonade. This delicious and refreshing cocktail is perfect for warm days, picnic, or pool-side refreshing relaxation. Don’t worry, it’s also an excellent addition to your indoor bar as well. However, nothing says “refreshing” or “relaxing” like a lavender lemonade, taken to the next level with Empress 1908 Gin!

For this cordial, we decided to engineer the lemonade flavor using water, simple syrup, and lemon juice. However, you can also simplify the steps by using your favorite lemonade as the base for the cocktail. In fact, keep an eye out for future videos where we do exactly that. Garnish with a lemon twist, and watch your guests enjoy your new libation!

The Empress Lavender Lemonade

  • 1 oz Water
  • 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
  • 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
  • 1 oz Lavender Syrup
  • 2 oz Empress 1908 Gin
  • (Lemon Twist Garnish)

Shake water, simple syrup, lemon juice, and lavender syrup on ice. Pour into a wine glass filled with crushed ice, leaving room for your gin pour. Top the drink with the Empress 1908 Gin, and gently stir to break up with ice – trying to still maintain the layering of the gin over the lemonade. You can add sparkling water for a fizzier finish, but it was definitely and amazing gin cordial summer drink without it!
